The Stone of Belderak

This incredibly rare black opal is set with a powerful duervan rune. This-rune stone was created by Belderak himself as a gift to Dondar of the Golden Armor, who passed it down through his family line.

The Stone bears a Ward Rune, which can be activated by its owner by sacrificing 2 points of Constitution. This is ability score damage is temporary, and is healed when the Stone is no longer active. The Warder can then pass the stone to a Ward. The Ward and Warder are then affected as listed below:

  • Find Ward (Su): As long as the Warder and Ward are on the same plane and the Ward is holding the rune stone, they can locate each other (or just the stone, if it is lost). This functions like the Locate Creature spell, but with an unlimited range and duration.
  • Guard Ward (Ex): The Warder can defend their Ward so long as they are adjacent to each other or within reach of the same foe. The Ward gains a +2 Deflection bonus to AC, but the Warder suffers a -2 penalty to AC.
  • Shield Other (Sp): The Warder can activate this ability as a standard action if within 100 feet of their ward, just as the spell of the same name, for 12 hours.
  • Intercept Attack (Ex): As an immediate action, 1/round, if the Warder is adjacent to their Ward, they may attempt to intercept any attack that would have otherwise struck their Ward. The Warder takes the hit, without the assailant having to make another attack roll. The Warder suffers the effects of the attack as if they had been struck and are allowed to make any appropriate saving throw.

These effects last until the stone is returned to the Warder or the Ward is deceased.
